I want to ride my bicycle

Weekly Wrap 26/23

We're gearing up for our bikepacking trip to Italy in July and while we now have all of the important equipment (tent & mini stove), my bike decided to give up today. I knew the brake disk needed to be replaced so I had a replacement ready but when leaving our garage today, the mantle of the shifting cable distintegrated. On closer inspection, it (& the one still functional) had tiny cuts which allowed water to seep in and corrode the core. This would also explain why the shifter was always very though to pull. I'm just happy that this happened here and not while on our trip. While this is probably not too hard to fix, repair guides mention special tooling to cut the mantle to length so I'll just bring it to the repair shop, saving me some time as well.

My new Kyria keyboard arrived and I'm very happy with how it looks!

I didn't expect it to come with RGB by default so I ordered a non-transparent backplate but it still looks very nice! For now, I just put together the keymap I had on my old keyboard using vial but I plan on switching to plain QMK later on to take full advantage of the display & customize the trackpad.

On the engineering side, I had some motivation to hack on sharepa again and introduced fluid spacing instead of rigid values which accomodate a padding issue nicely. I also played around with fluid typescales but couldn't find values that made me happy, will have to investigate this some more.

I read up on standard.site and got inspired to work on my own POSSE tooling for this side but I decided to put it on the backlog for now and focus on sharepa again. Would love for it to be useable by the end of the year.

I also tried a new cooking recipe this week: Portokalopita! The color didn't quite match the bright orange of the reference pictures but it tasted delicious!
