I missed the last two updates as I was out scuba diving in Mauritius with my wife and a friend! This was my first time diving in the indian ocean and while it was way colder, I loved the huge diversity! The dive sites we visited were all pretty similar in structure but every dive offered a unique experience just by having so many different encounters.
Now that we're back, Autumn has fully set in and summer has officially come to an end. I'm looking forward to decorating our home & enjoying cozy fall vibes before the holiday stress begins.
While on vacation, one of my kubernetes nodes crashed and had to be restarted. While the application deployments are set up to handle this, my storage layer is still not very stable. This meant that one node becoming unavailable resulted in another node being tainted as its volume store was not in quorum. The long term solution is probably migrating off to seaweedfs as I explored earlier but I still haven't gotten it to perform good enough.
Thanks to my Dad — who is alwasy up to date on which bands are in town — we went out to see Faintest Idea and the Mighty Maggots and it was a blast! Faintest Idea is one of my favourite Ska-Punk bands and the Maggots were a pleasant surprise. Will definetely keep an eye out if they play again.
The past few weeks I'm also finding myself wishing to give the POSSE / AP / AT redesign of this website more time but there is just so much I want to do and so little time. Maybe writing this down will manifest destiny 🤞
